A couple years ago while remodeling our home I designed and built this concrete sink and wood table. The idea of not having a mirror to look into was an experiment to bring one into the present. It eliminates the idea that the self is externally composed; removing the image of self allowing one to truly be in many senses of the word. We can be present without the pull of expectation, and remove any other illusory demands upon self. What is it that we really need to be? So many illusions are placed in front of us: TV, movies, magazines, phones, and then we are left with a mirror for reflection. I’d say all these including the mirror are illusions we feed into. To truly be ones self one must feel from within the happenings if their environment. To do this is to become one with your surroundings rather than separate from them.

In the morning it was time to head back to office after three weeks of vacation. Ended up making it easy and playing safe by going with my favorite suit from Caruso together with some subtle shades of blue for shirt and tie. It was nice to be on vacation but it’s also good to be back at work.
